Have I ran out of my show hoping to make it to this fast few restaurant before their breakfast hours are over? Yes. Yes, I have and I have no regrets!

Their Chick-n-Minis are hands down my favorite fast food breakfast.  Ever since Burger King took their Cini Minis off the menu, there really hasn't been much of a contest. Chick-Fil-A reigns supreme in the fast food breakfast arena.

As much as I love those little chicken biscuits, I know that a trip through the Chick-Fil-A drive through isn't necessarily my quickest breakfast option near the station. The line there is always terribly long and I sit at the window longer than other fast food restaurants near the station.

Turns out that's a nationwide trend with Chick-Fil-A, not just a Boise phenomena. According to a new study from QSR magazine, the average speed of service at Chick-Fil-A is 5 minutes, 32 seconds making it the slowest service among national fast food chains.

Top 5 Slowest Fast Food Drive-Thrus

  1. Chick-Fil-A: 5 minutes, 32 seconds
  2. McDonald's: 4 minutes, 43 seconds
  3. Arby's: 4 minutes, 23 seconds
  4. KFC: 4 minutes, 3 seconds
  5. Carl's Jr.: 4 minutes

Dunkin' Donuts ranked as the fastest drive thru service, but since we don't have any of those in the Treasure Valley, Wendy's takes the top spot. Their average wait time is 3 minutes, 49 seconds.

Overall the speed of drive thru service across the country has slowed down by 20 seconds over the past year.  QSR attributes that to increasingly complex menu options and people picking up mobile orders through the regular drive thru lanes.

Editor's Note: I don't really mind the wait times at Chick-Fil-A.  The service at the one on Broadway is SO FRIENDLY that by the time I get back to the station to eat my Chick-N-Minis I've forgotten how longsI waited for them!
