Utah, the Barbaric Beehive State

In this day and age, who knew a practice as barbaric as this could be legal in a state as religious as Utah?

Under Utah code, defiling a dead body is a third-degree felony, and failure to report the discovery of one is a class B misdemeanor. Be that as it may, cannibalism—the act of one person willfully consuming another, dead or alive—is still legal in the Beehive State. Confused? So are we, and unfortunately, it only gets worse.

Idaho Stands Alone

Did you know that at the federal level, cannibalism is legal in every state but Idaho? It's true. Take a look at Idaho Statute 18-5003, Chapter 50 on mayhem:

Idaho Statute 18-5003 Chapter 50 Mayhem states the following:

  • Any person who willfully ingests the flesh or blood of a human being is guilty of cannibalism.
  • It shall be an affirmative defense to a violation of the provisions of this section that the action was taken under extreme life-threatening conditions as the only apparent means of survival.
  • Cannibalism is punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not exceeding fourteen (14) years.

Does Idaho's anti-cannibalism stance imply that states that don't oppose the act support it? It certainly seems so. It kind of renews your appreciation for the Gem State, doesn't it?

PS, Uncle Sam is a Doomsday Prepper

By the way, if you're wondering why Uncle Sam permits such a gruesome act, it comes down to a matter of survival. In times of crisis, Americans can legally consume other citizens to survive dire/Doomsday-like conditions.
