Tragedy struck at 5:15 last night on Chinden Blvd. One wrong move cost this man his life.

It happened just west of Dresden Place. The 66-year-old man did not use the crosswalk as he crossed north on Chinden and he was hit by a car going eastbound.

The female driver of the car was not injured, but the man whose identity has not been released to the public was seriously injured. CPR and life-saving measures were performed at the scene of the accident according to KTVB.

He was then transported to Saint Alphonsus where he passed away from the severity of his injuries.

The ADA County Crash Reconstruction team is currently investigating and so far no charges have been filed.

It's a common mistake that many of us make all the time. We dash across the road without using the crosswalk, but let this serve as a reminder that those crosswalks are in place for a reason and once again we are reminded of that very tough lesson that life is far too fragile.

Please keep this man's family and friends and the driver of the car in your thoughts and prayers.
