My daughter came home with this badge yesterday, and she won't take it off! Mayor Tammy de Weerd gave them to the kids on Meridian's "Do the Right" day! Here's another reason why Meridian is #1!

"Do the Right Day" is held every April 8th in Meridian and the concept is to show some form of compassion to the person on your right. The program was started to help combat teen bullying and suicide and now the program is reaching cities as far as Texas.

Messages of kindness were written in sidewalk chalk all over at The Village yesterday and people were using the #dotheright on social media to help spread the word.

Acts of kindness could be anything from saying "hello" and giving a smile to the person on your right, to buying lunch for the person on your right.

Mayor Tammy also visited with elementary aged kids to encourage them to be kind and "Do the Right."

What an incredible program! Even though "Do the Right" day is over for this year, hopefully it has inspired all of us to "Do the Right" in our every day lives. You never know what a simple smile and a "hello" will do for someone's day. For more information on the program click HERE.
