(Moscow, Idaho) - There was a threat of a shooting at Moscow High School today. At 9:50 am on February 8, 2023, the Moscow Police Department received a call from a male suspect who was stating that he was armed and was planning to commit a shooting at the Moscow High School. During the phone call with the suspect, deputies from the Latah County Sheriff's Office arrived at the high school to set up a perimeter. The Moscow Police Department came shortly after and entered the building, working with the Latah Country Deputies to quickly clear the building and look for active threats.

No Latah County Sherriff's and Moscow Police Department found no threats inside Moscow High School, and no one was injured. While this took place at Moscow High School, all other district schools implemented their lockdown procedures. Other schools in Moscow were also alerted of the threat; at this time, there doesn't appear to be an active, credible threat to the school in Moscow.

The Moscow Police Department's press release also mentions that from the preliminary investigation, the call from the suspect likely came from outside of the state of Idaho. As the MPD continues investigating this threat to Moscow High School, they will update the community when possible.

Classes in the Moscow School District have continued for the day but will be keeping students inside. If you're a parent of a student within the Moscow School District and have questions, please contact the school your child attends.

Captain Anthony Dahlinger also thanked the Latah County Sheriff's Office and the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department "The Moscow Police Department would like to thank the Latah County Sheriff's Office and the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department for their quick response to this incident."
