Unpredictable winds cause fire spreading and evacuations for Lowman residents.

Over 58,000 acres burned so far and The Pioneer Fire is the #1 priority in Idaho.  It's only 28% contained and Boise County has issued level 2 evacuations for Lowman residents and recreation sites west of town along Highway 17.  People in these areas are encouraged to head out if able and ready.

The Idaho Red Cross has re-opened its evacuation shelter at Idaho City High School.  Highway 17 has been closed at Little Gallagher Creek, between Garden Valley and Lowman.  Fallen rocks and downed power lines are blocking the roads.
