I spent last Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Memphis, TN. I was there taking part in the annual "Country Cares" seminar for the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. I had attended the seminar in the past but it has been a few years since my last visit. I was amazed at the changes in the actual hospital that have been made in my absence. It is an amazing place and I am proud to say that KAWO has been able to take part in the St. Jude Radiothon every year.

I arrived back in Boise on Sunday afternoon and hurried home to catch what I could of the Seahawks-Packers game. When I turned on the TV it was already a few minutes into the 4th quarter, and things looked pretty bleak for the Seahawks and their fans. Then it got worse. Wilson threw his 4th interception, and with under three minutes to go it seemed hope was lost.

Then the Seahawks did something spectacular. They reached DEEP down inside and decided they were NOT going down without giving it ALL they had. Despite the first three quarters, they decided it was a brand new game with less than three minutes to go. What transpired was an incredible comeback, possibly one of the best I've ever seen in the NFL. They shocked the Packers and most of the country with an incredible victory. The Seahawks NEVER gave up HOPE.

What does that have to do with St. Jude, you ask? When families are sent to St. Jude, a lot of times they must feel like it's already the 4th quarter, and time is running out. They know their child is fighting to win the ultimate battle. A battle where the loser doesn't go home and try again next year. St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and the staff are a LOT like the Seahawks in that NFC Championship game. They take those families that have come to them feeling like they are in the 4th quarter, and they give them HOPE. The doctors, researchers, nurses and staff never stop fighting. They never stop looking for another way to beat childhood cancer.

It's inspirational to tour the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and hear the stories of success. Several of the researchers and staff were patients of the hospital when they were children. They grew up and chose to dedicate their adult lives to helping others the same way they were helped.

While not every story from St. Jude's has a happy ending, the percentages of those that do are getting higher and higher each year. It's your donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital that help increase the odds of those stories ending happily, and give HOPE, so that no child dies in the dawn of life.

Our annual Wow Country 104.3 St. Jude Radiothon is coming up in March. We'll be counting on you to help us and St. Jude's win the battle against childhood cancer. It's the most important thing we can do at Wow Country 104.3.
