The Bible Contains Porn & Should Be Removed From Idaho Libraries
The headline is what one Utah Parent would like to see. A parent in Utah is frustrated by a law passed in Utah in 2022 to ban any books containing "pornographic or indecent" content from Utah schools. The general description of the bill says, "The bill prohibits certain sensitive instructional materials in public schools."
We have seen it throughout the entire United States, book banning. Over 1,651 unique titles were targeted last year, and there are currently 26 books banned in three different school districts in Idaho. According to the Idaho State Journal, the Senate State Affairs Committee sent bills this year to restrict access to "harmful materials to minors in schools and libraries while adding criminal penalties and expanding judicial jurisdiction in the matter."
The parent in Utah wrote that "incest, onanism, bestiality, prostitution, genital mutilation, fellation, dildos, rape, and even infanticide" are all topics in the Bible. The parent also wrote, "You'll no doubt find that the Bible, under Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-1227, has 'no serious values for minors' because it's pornographic by our new definition."
Shouldn't we allow parents to decide what their children read?
The parent continued, "Ceding our children's education, First Amendment Rights and library access to a white supremacist hate group like Utah Parents United seems like a wonderful idea for a school district literally under investigation for being racist."
West Ada School District has banned in libraries and classrooms two books, "Gender Queer: A Memoir" By Maia Kobab and "This Book Is Gay, by Juno Dawson.
As government officials continue to limit the rights of its people, like removing books from schools and women's rights, what's next, guns? If you're a parent worried about your child being part of the LGBTIQ+ community, don't worry about the books, they already know their sexual orientation and are too scared to tell you.
