Two people walking on the sidewalk in Fruitland yesterday afternoon were struck and killed by a vehicle which leaves our community asking, "what happened?"

According to KTVB the accident took place at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon on the side of U.S. 95 near milepost 64.  Witnesses say the car was driving way too fast and suddenly veered off the side of the road and onto the sidewalk where the two victims were walking.  After the accident traffic was shut down on U.S. 95 for several hours while investigators gathered evidence and statements.

Theories cover anything and everything including alcohol and drugs to a deliberate action to kill these two individuals.  An ongoing investigation is in full force where authorities will leave no stone un-turned.  The investigation proceeds as a homicide and the Idaho State Police have not yet released suspect's or victim's names.

Anyone with any kind of information is asked to please contact the Idaho State Police at 208-884-7000.
