Unsolved Mysteries in Idaho

A vigil was held to honor Boise local Ronie Pratt last night. Her body was found last week in the foothills and her death and disappearance are still a mystery, but did you know about these other unsolved crimes in Idaho?

The Grove fountain was surrounded by family and friends of Ronie's last night as they honored her life. Ronie was well known in the Boise music scene and a concert was also held to help raise money for Ronie's funeral expenses. Ronie's death and disappearance remains unsolved.

Digging into Ronie's disappearance I discovered that there are several unsolved mysteries in Idaho.

Let's go all the way back to 1923 when 38 year old Arthur Kraege's body was found floating in the Pend Orielle. He had a railway spike and chains wrapped around his waist. His boat was found untouched nearby and Arthur had left unannounced two weeks prior. An autopsy showed that no violence had occurred, which suggested suicide, but Kraege's family continued to insist he was murdered.

Janice Foiles, was a student at the University of Idaho and a waitress at the Moscow's Tip Top Café  when someone came in and shot her while she was closing up in 1969. Her body was found lying behind the counter with multiple blows to the head. She was still clutching the day's receipts in her hand. More than 50 years later the case is still wide open.

In December of 1982 a middle aged man walked into the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boise and he appeared to be waiting in the confessional line. He was dead by the time he got to the front. Investigators concluded that the gentleman had swallowed a cyanide capsule, although it couldn't be determined whether the act was intentional or forced. He had a large sum of cash in his pockets, with a note stating that the funds be used for his funeral.

In 1979, a family out hunting arrowheads found the grave of a young man who's head and limbs had been chopped off! They determined the man was in his 30's, about 6 feet tall, with brown hair, but without a head the case was never solved.

A former school teacher, 74 year old Phyllis Ward was found dead in her home after a house fire in 2012. At first investigators thought is was an accident, but an autopsy later revealed that Ward had been brutally killed before the fire started. Her killer has never been found.

26 year old Akrian Evans was found shot in his home off Garrity Boulevard in Nampa nearly a year ago. His murder has remained a mystery.

18 year old Taryn Criner has been missing since October. Her family desperately wants to find her, but have been left without answers. Information on her disappearance can be found HERE.
