Coyote and the 7 Devils
Hells CanyonThe legend says many years ago there were seven child-eating giants. The people were so terrified that they called out to Coyote to help them defeat the giants. Coyote knew he couldn't defeat the giants all at one time, so he dug seven different holes in the earth and filled them up with boiling liquid. As the giants moved east to look for more children to eat they fell into the holes and were burned by the liquid. Coyote then turned the giants into stone and he opened up a canyon at their feet to prevent them from reaching the villages.

Sharlie and the Legend of Payette Lake
McCallMuch like the Loch Ness Monster, Sharlie is a mysterious creature that lives in the Payette Lake. She's reportedly between 10 and 50 feet long, brownish-green, and makes serpent-like waves in the lake. Luckily, locals say she is friendly and has never attacked anyone.

The Paddler of Lake Pend Oreille
Northern Idaho PanhandleHe's supposed to be very large, grey, and stands as the only survivor of the Jurassic era. People have tried to debunk the legend by saying they are glimpses of the Naval Training Stations top secret submarine and technology testing.

Massacre Rocks Water Babies
PocatelloApparently a water baby is a spirit or monster. These child-like creatures are said to live in the waters of reservations around the Western U.S. and their whole goal is to murder!

The Bear Lake Monster
Bear LakeJust recently a 25 foot carcass that showed up on the Utah side of the lake shows there may be some truth to this legend. There have been hundreds of sightings of this water devil who finally died after centuries of sightings and attacks. Those who claim to have seen the monster say he would use his lengthy neck to reach on to the shore and kill who ever he chooses.
