My son is almost 13 and I can't even imagine him driving a car, but this 13-year-old Idaho boy not only drove a car, but he led police on a high-speed chase!

It happened near the town of Athol, Idaho shortly after 1 a.m. this morning. A 15-year-old was also in the vehicle but it was the 13-year-old that was behind the wheel.

The teenager gunned the SUV up to 80-mph along HWY 54 and after turning onto Clagstone Rd. he sped up to 100 mph and failed to stop at a stop sign according to KTVB.

Thankfully, the chase came to the end when one of the boy's parents was able to reach him and convinced him to pull over for police. No one was injured and the 13-year-old surrendered to police. He is now facing charges for eluding the police and reckless driving. He's been booked into Kootenai Juvenile Detention Facility to get the help he needs.

Who knows what compelled this young man to get behind the wheel of a car and lead police on a dangerous chase, but I do know that I believe the heart of a child is always good and I hope he has the opportunity to get the help he needs so that he can reach his full potential.

If you have pre-teen kids, educate them on the seriousness of driving a vehicle so that they never see it as a means to escape.
