There's (supposed to be) an unspoken trust between consumers and companies, especially when it comes to healthcare products. And why shouldn't there be?

It's one of the reasons why living in America is so great - we can go to the store and get anything we need... including healthcare products.

Popular Products Are Being Recalled From Stores

The Food & Drug Administration recently announced a recall of skincare products that are primarily used to treat acne. What makes the recall so serious is that officials say elevated levels of a certain ingredient put customers at risk of developing cancer.

It's important to note that the risk is low but that being said... the risk is still there.

According to the FDA, their investigation began when an agency testing of 95 acne products revealed that "more than 90% of tested products had undetectable or extremely low levels of benzene."

Following those results, the FDA dug deeper and found that more testing revealed "elevated levels of benzene in certain acne products containing benzoyl peroxide."

What Is Benzene And How Can It Cause Cancer?

According to the FDA, benzene is a chemical that can be primarily found in "crude oil, gasoline" and even cigarette smoke. Long-term exposure to elevated levels of benzene can increase a person's risk of developing cancer.

Walmart & Trader Joe's Recalled Items

This recall affected products made at BrucePac's plant in Durant, Oklahoma, and has reached several popular stores like Walmart and Trader Joe's. So, if you've got any of these products at home, it's time to play it safe. The recall includes 75 types of meat and chicken products, including grilled chicken breast strips, produced between June 19 and October 8, 2024. The best-by dates range from June 19, 2025, to October 8, 2025. If you spot these items in your fridge or freezer, it's best to throw them out right away.
