Chalk this up to something we thought we knew but didn't...  the Ada County Sheriff's Office has their own automotive shop for their vehicles!

We know: "It makes sense!"

If there was a category of "Things We Should Know But Don't Think About Enough", this would certainly fall under it.

Ada County Sheriff's Office shared a post to their social media highlighting their awesome automotive shop and when you realize just how many vehicles they have in their fleet - it makes total sense.

It's why we won't see patrol vehicles in line at our local express oil change spots or getting service at places like Treasure Valley Subaru in Nampa. According to their post, the Ada County Sheriff's Office says their fleet "collectively drives 2.8 million miles per year."

To put that in perspective, the moon is approximately 238,900 miles away from Earth. That means our Ada County sheriffs are driving the equivalent of 11 trips to the moon from Earth in a year.

Other fun numbers include 340 which is how many "assets" they have in their fleet.

What's awesome about their auto shop is that it looks like it was designed specifically for law enforcement. From installing sirens to push bumpers, there really isn't anything they can't do.

Looking for a job?

That's right - they're also hiring. According to their site, they pay between $25 - $27.50 hourly and offer full-time benefits. You'll obviously need to know your stuff to get the gig but once you do, you'll be working 10-hour shifts between Thursday and Sunday.

Sure, you're giving up your weekends but you're also only working four days! And, did we mention the benefits?

Let's see where you'll be working and where law enforcement goes to get their vehicles maintained.
