Just Announced: Big Round Of Layoffs Reported At Boise Albertsons
Albertsons has been in the news a lot recently with the recent merger with Kroger that was blocked in court. In the aftermath of the failed merger, Albertsons is in the news again but this time, it's affecting people right here in Boise.
Albertsons Layoffs 2025
Despite the failed merger, Albertsons seemed to fare better than previous years as reported on their earnings call that was made public on January 8th.
According to the report, Albertsons reported a net income of $401 million with increased digital sales and a loyalty member increase of 15%.
Despite the reported success, several outlets are now reporting that Albertsons conducted major layoffs of employees at their corporate office.
As of now, there is no number reported when it comes to how many layoffs took place but it was enough for Albertsons to release a statement to our friends at CBS 2 Boise.
According to the statement from Albertsons:
Our strategy to win and earn customers for life includes finding new sources of productivity to enable us to invest in growth. After many years of productivity efforts across several parts of our company, we recently turned our attention to our general and administrative expenses and made the difficult decision to reduce the size of our corporate and division workforce.
There's no doubt that we'll all hear more details in the coming days but it appears the blocked multibillion-dollar merger with Kroger could have impacted Albertsons' decision to downsize its workforce.
We'll keep you posted on the details as they become available.
