It's not easy to jump into a burning building to drag someone out and save their life, but that's exactly what happened last night in Boise.

Our boys at the Boise Fire Department don't get enough recognition for what they do.  These are men with families that don't give it a second thought when it comes to jumping into life threatening situations, and on a regular basis.

Last night a fire broke out at the Latah Village Apartments on Alpine street.  One man, unconscious, lying on the floor smack dab in the middle of the floor owes his life to these great firefighters.  He's doing fine now at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

Boise Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rasulo said, "we were very fortunate this fire was contained to just the one unit.  Functional detectors are an absolute must and will save your life."

Our boys evacuated all of the units and searches were conducted to ensure there was no more danger to residents.  All residents have been allowed to return to their apartments and of course, our firefighters are back home.

This is what they do.  This is what we expect them to do.  Just another day on the job and once it's over we all move on in life like nothing ever happened.  No awards, recognition, or parade.  We don't hold these guys up on our shoulders and cheer them on for what they do.  I just hope that each of us can hold them up in our hearts, and be grateful, for these special men that do extra special things!
