We live in a social media world and it is what it is, but at some point you have to ask yourself , how much is too much and how far is to far for the gram? The days of you sharing your baby's gender in a post are gone, a gender reveal party is the new norm. These parties have become elaborate productions and in this social media world they all have a video component to them which is great until something goes sideways like this weekend.

A California couple decided to use a device designed to shoot blue or pink smoke into the air to determine the baby's gender. The problem is that they decided to do this in an area ideal for a fire to spread.

Capt. Bennet Milloy of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

"The family went into a field and fired off the device, which quickly ignited 4-foot (1.2 meter) grasses, Milloy said. Conditions were perfect for a fire to spread quickly — triple-digit temperatures, low humidity, dry vegetation and a stiff breeze"

According to ktvb The fire has grown to 11.5 square miles (30 square kilometers) by Monday morning and over 500 firefighters are working to contain the fire to no avail. Water dropping helicopters have been deployed and people in the city of Yucaipa have been evacuated.

It seems to me that the only thing this "reveal" showed is that these parents did not plan ahead, but hey they got a lot of views on their social media platforms and in this day and age going viral is hashtag goals... SMH.
