Two girls from Meridian are in the hospital this morning after being hit by a car while they were crossing the street on a crosswalk. 


It happened right in front of Compass Charter School, a place that most people are extra cautious and kids feel safe, but around 7am yesterday 2 girls were hit when then driver of a car dropped her coffee and reached down to pick it up.


According to KTVB, the girls have suffered broken bones but their injuries do not appear to be life threatening.


The driver of the car that hit them has been charged with inattentive driving.
