Traffic is going to be awful, gas prices are skyrocketing, and are the eclipse glasses you bought going to really protect your eyes? Use this app and these tips to make your way through the Total Eclipse on Monday.

Our population is expected to nearly double heading into next week. 370,000 to 500,000 people will descend upon our state to experience the "path of totality" that runs through the state.

According to the Idaho Statesman, Oregon is already experiencing some of the headache. U.S. 26 east of Prineville was backed up for 30 miles yesterday afternoon.

Here are some ways you can avoid the eclipse traffic

  • 511.idaho.gov
  • Call 511
  • itd.idaho.gov/eclipse
  • Download the Idaho 511 app

This will give you updates on road conditions, delays, and detours.

Officials say you also need to be prepared.

  • Keep a full tank of gas
  • Keep water in your car
  • Be extra patient and respectful on the road
