Police Investigate Gun Threat At An Idaho Middle School

Various sources are reporting that Bonneville County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a threat made by a student on social media to bring a gun to a middle school in Ammon, Idaho.

Officials Say There Is No Further Threat

Let's get this out of the way fast - there is no further threat and the school is safe. And let's also call it for what it is - this is the best way that this situation could have turned out.

"Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a threat from a student at Sandcreek Middle School in Ammon," Bonneville Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

"A report was made through dispatch yesterday evening of a student making threats over social media of bringing a gun to school."

It didn't take long for law enforcement to crack down and track down the student who made the threat. According to the press release, offices located "the student and parents at their residence late last night and an investigation is in progress."

Making threats of violence in any form is never a good idea and one of this magnitude should result in some serious consequences.

What Happens Next?

Bonneville County Sheriff's Office and the school district extended their thanks to the individuals who reported the threat early on. It was this swift action that could have very well prevented a horrific disaster.

Officials also say that there is no imminent threat and that the school will be operating on a normal schedule today with "extra resources from the Sheriff's Office."

As for the student who made the threat, officials say that the student will not be in school today.
