There Won’t Be Any More Idaho Executions This Year
Many of us agree that some crimes are unforgivable and deserve the harshest punishment possible. In Idaho, that means getting sent to the afterlife by execution.
However, criminals on Idaho's death row awaiting their imminent demise will have to wait a little longer, according to a recent announcement from the Idaho Department of Corrections.

If you're unfamiliar with prison blocks, we understand! It's not something we'd expect you to research on a whim unless you're into prison shows... which there seem to be a lot of these days.
In Idaho's maximum security prison, F-block is where executions take place, and until recently, it was by lethal injection.

Now, the Idaho Department of Correction is preparing the F-block for its new method of execution: death by firing squad.
"To ensure compliance with House Bill 37, which designates execution by firing squad as the primary method of execution in Idaho as of July 1, 2026," the Idaho Department of Correction said in a new release.
"The Idaho Department of Correction is set to begin phase two of the retrofit of the execution unit in F-Block at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution to implement this method."
IDOC says the remodel project will take about six to nine months to complete, and the execution team will be trained and ready by July 2026.
Until then, executions and "execution-related procedures" will be suspended through the end of the year.
