When you thought there was a chance that people would stop moving to Boise, this comes out.

Everyone knows how popular the Treasure Valley has been over the past couple of years, with Ada County adding 23,943 new residents since 2020 and Canyon County having 19,959 new residents. The entire Treasure Valley is now just below 900,000 residents.

Boise has been highlighted on almost every list since 2020 for being one of the best places to live, and it's not going to stop anytime soon because Boise just landed on the list of "Best Place To Live in The U.S. in 2023-2024" from U.S. News.

What was their Methodology?

The "metro areas in the rankings are evaluated using data from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, the U.S. Department of Labor, and U.S. News' own internal resources." To make the list, places need to have good value, be desirable, have a strong job market, and have a high quality of life. Unless you dig deeper, you'll see three scores, the overall score, quality of life, and value.

Where does Boise, Idaho, rank on their list?

Before we get there, this is how they describe what it's like to live in Boise. "Boise is a recreationalist's paradise. If you value the outdoors and time spent among rivers, mountains, canyons, deserts, and lakes – and all the activities encapsulated therein – it's worth a serious look."

U.S. News also mentions that affordability is one of the most attractive qualities. They highlighted the housing cost and that the value for your housing dollar goes further than it would in Seattle and Portland when compared to other metro areas in the Northwest.

Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2023-2024

"U.S. News analyzed the 150 most populous metro areas to find the best places to live. To make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market, and have a high quality of life. For more information on how we rank, read the Best Places to Live methodology."
