I'm fed up with dealing with aggressive, off-leash dogs when I go for a walk. So I'm taking extreme measures.

After years of dealing with dogs chasing and scaring the crap out of me while walking with my dog & my kids, I'm finally fed up.  (I'm not trying to call out specific breeds, but let's be honest... it's not often that I'm worried about a Chihuahua growling at me as I walk by....) Countless times I've been threatened or chased by dogs running loose.  It's made me scared to leave my house with my girls and Gracie (my ON-leash dog, thankyouverymuch.)

After my latest run in with a pack of aggressive of- leash dogs, I honestly thought about getting a gun to carry with me while taking a walk.  Lots of people called in to tell me why that was a bad idea: I could get in trouble for discharging a weapon in the Boise city limits, sued by the owner of a dog I shot, etc...

So, I opted for this:

Since carrying Grizzly Bear spray with me, I actually feel a little safer. I figure if it will take down a hungry bear, it might make a dog think twice about coming after me and Gracie. My only concern is accidentally holding it facing it the wrong direction if I need to discharge it and taking some bear spray in the face.

Am I being paranoid?  Is there another solution that I didn't think about?
