Movie Mike Deestro’s Top 5 Films That Are GREAT But Only Need to Watch Once
2. Midsommar: (2017)
This movie has some of the most disturbing images I’ve seen in a movie. At times, you want to look away. But it takes you on a journey into a world you didn’t know you needed to see. It’s my go-to horror / suspense recommendation. But warning...it’s not for the faint of heart. After you see it once...you’ll know why I say that you won’t need to see it again.
3. Parasite (2019)
This movie won the Oscar for Best Picture and hands down deserved to win. Once you make it past the subtitle barrier...you get to experience such a unique and well told story. But I feel like most “Best Picture” winners don’t have a great rewatchability rate. But you need to experience it at least once.
4. Get Out (2017)
I love this one from director Jordan Peele. I believe he is reinventing the horror genre and this movie takes you quite the trip. But it’s also not one that you get all your friends together on a movie night to rewatch. For that reason, after I saw it in theaters the one time... I’ve never gone back and re-watch but that doesn’t take away the fact that it’s one of my favorites.
5. Joker: (2019)
I thought Joaquin Phoenix's performance was perfect. He deserved to win the Oscar for Best Actor. This movie was dark and distributing and made an impact on pop culture unlike any other movie in the last 5 years. It was so perfect to me...that I feel like going back and watching it again may take away from that. I want it forever to exist in my mind the way it did the first time I watched it.
