Looks like Nampa is the latest city to declare a state of emergency due to the recent storms.  The decision to declare came after 2 of the city's 4 snow plows broke down due to "non-stop" use since Dec. 5.

Replacement parts are on their way and will be shipped to Nampa by the end of the week.  In the mean time temporary parts are being supplied by a local machine shop.

The main purpose of the declaration is that it permits Nampa to pass up the bidding process to hire contractors which can be very time consuming.

The city of Kuna has also declared a state of emergency.  Kuna officials say "with the warming temperatures, snow, slush and standing water is impeding safe travel on the streets and sidewalks, all of which constitutes a local disaster emergency."
