A Nampa Police Officer is recovering and a man is dead after a traffic stop went terribly wrong. Idaho News Channel 2 is reporting that the Nampa officer conducted a traffic stop near 11th Avenue North and 2nd Street North in Nampa around 3pm today (Friday December 18th). A News release from the Nampa Police Department says "During the course of the traffic stop a Nampa officer sustained injuries," a news release from the department said.

This happened near the family dollar and at least one officer fired his duty weapon, striking an adult male. The man died at the scene even though he was given medical aid. The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

This is an ongoing investigation and The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force was called to investigate. Caldwell Police is leading the investigation. According to a KTVB reporter there were more than 15 police vehicles in the area. We have been told that no more information will be released tonight as they continue the investigation.
