the Idaho Transportation Department has been hard at work for weeks transforming a stretch of I-84. While they've been able to keep lanes open during construction to not disrupt traffic too much, they will have to shut down the freeway for a couple of nights for the next phase of the project.

According to ITD,  I-84 "will be closed between the Karcher/Midland and Northside interchanges from 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 to 5 a.m. Thursday, May 23 to remove power lines above the highway."

During the closure, there will be a detour in place. Depending on which direction you're traveling, you'll exit at Karcher/Midland and follow the detour along Karcher Road. There will be flaggers to direct traffic in the area.

The power lines will be removed in preparation for the widening of I-84. If the weather gets too bad, however, the closures could be rescheduled.
