People Are Posing As Idaho Police To Take Your Money
Allow us to start by saying this has been one hell of a season for scammers. It's been so bad you'd think it's the holiday season.
But nope! Scammers don't give a hoot what season it is; they're trying to come after our hard-earned money and have no shame in how they're trying to get it.
In The Mind Of A Scammer
Imagine how much work it takes to be a low-life scammer. The irony is that kind of effort and energy could be channeled into something more positive... and more legal.
Recently, police in Twin Falls shared a post highlighting a new scam involving people posing as police to rob us blind.
"The City of Twin Falls wants residents to be aware of a recent nationwide scam that preys on our community's support for law enforcement," the Twin Falls Police Department posted to their Facebook.
"Fraudsters are posing as the National Police Association seeking donations, and residents are receiving these requests by mail and phone."
Seriously, how sick are these scammers? Think about all of the hard work our officers put in and the sacrifices they have to make to keep us safe. Now, scammers are exploiting our passion and support for law enforcement for what... to make a buck?
Disgusting.
Do Your Research!
Twin Falls law enforcement is reminding people to do their research into an organization before offering financial support.
"Remember to be skeptical of unsolicited calls, emails, or text messages requesting financial contributions," Twin Falls police said.
"Although these scams are always changing, these simple reminders we repeat often can prevent you from becoming a victim of a scam."
