This is the 2nd snowmobiler killed in an Idaho avalanche over the past month.  We do not as of yet know the identity of the snowmobiler but we do know that it was a 36-year-old man who was caught in an avalanche in eastern Idaho just east of Reas Peak in Island Park.

One of the main issues rescue teams have with saving lives in these types of situations is time.  The 36-year-old man was buried for 40 minutes before rescuers were able to retrieve his body.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office says the call came in about a snowmobiler caught in the avalanche on Saturday afternoon.  Every effort was made to work as quickly and efficiently as possible but it just wasn't enough.  We do not know if the man killed was dead immediately after the avalanche hit him or if he couldn't survive the aftermath of being buried for 40 minutes.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
