TMSG: 80-Year-Old Rescues Driver Who Crashed Into Canal
80-year-old Steve Montelongo jumped into action after seeing a terrible accident.
Montelongo saw a person drive his vehicle into a canal in Modesto, California. He shared with a local CBS station, "He was in there trapped. All four doors shut. He was panicking already, you know because the water was rising. The water was rushing in, the car was starting to move."
That's when Montelongo yanked the front door off it's hinge, and grabbed the guy's shirt to pull him off.
Tom Olsen with the California Highway Patrol is very grateful for the elderly man's heroic efforts. But Montelongo doesn't consider himself a hero, he told CBS, "I was just a fella that got put in the right place at the right time."
