91-year-old L.C. "Buckshot" Smith is a police officer in Camden, Arkansas and everyone knows his name.

Smith is the oldest police officer in the state, he drives an unmarked police car and walks the beat of his hometown four days a week. He earned his popularity by working more than four decades for the Ouachita County Sheriff's Department. He retired after working 46 years as a deputy, but it only lasted five months. He confessed he didn't have any fun during those five months, so he wanted to continue on in his career.

He may carry a firearm, but he doesn't use it. Mayor Julian Lott said Smith has a more powerful weapon, himself. Lott said "He knows your mama and he knew your grandmother. So he has the authority to speak into our lives." Smith has taken more people home, than he's taken to jail over the course of his career.

Chief Boyd Woody said that Smith constantly shares that he will "retire when the good Lord tells him to." Until then, Smith plans to keep rolling and patrolling.
