TMSG: Librarian Delivers Books To Kids By Drone
Due to the coronavirus shut-down still in place in many cities across the country, many kids haven't been able to see the inside of a library for months.
Montgomery County Public Schools middle school librarian Kelly Passek knows the importance of kids continuing their reading during the summer months. Because too much time without practice can lead to students losing skills. So Passek decided to do something to get her kids excited about reading books in the summer despite them not being able to go to libraries.
Passek decided to drop off books to her kids via drone. With the help of Wing, a service that uses drones to quickly and efficiently deliver small packages, Passek was able to make her idea a reality. She created a Google form where students can enter the books they want to read, then she picks them off the shelf, packs them up, and brings them to a Wing location for their delivery.
