I hate winter. I really do. If you're like me, here's some little tips and tricks to help you survive these cold winter months!

I stumbled across some advice on yahoo.com about how to get through some of the problems that the cold can cause and I thought these were some pretty good ideas.

  • Use dryer sheets to combat hair static (I've been doing this for years and I love that not only does it calm the flyaways, but they make your hair smell good. I've also found that using a leave in conditioner after you use your regular conditioner in the shower helps a lot with static.)

  • Put cucumbers on your chapped lips (I've never tried this one, but just the smell of cucumbers reminds me of summer and that makes me happy! Apparently the cucumbers soothe those red flaky lips. Yahoo also suggests that you put honey on your chapped lips for 10 minutes and then wash it off. Both sound yummy to me!)

  • Thaw a frozen car lock with hand sanitizer (I hate this problem and what a great idea! They say the alcohol in the hand sanitizer will thaw the ice! It's worth a try!)

  • Put the fan on low and switch the setting to clockwise (Anyone who knows me knows I hate ceiling fans! I prefer to be warm, but apparently this setting pushes rising heat back down.)

  • Create humidity in your home (You can make the air less drying on your skin and hair by boiling water on the stove, investing in a humidifier, or leaving a hot shower running for a few minutes.)
