The 24 hour superstore is cutting back its hours in numerous Idaho stores. Check here and see if your local Walmart is closing early.

One of the main conveniences of shopping at Walmart is that you can go anytime day or night to pick up pretty much anything you can imagine. That's no longer the case at two Idaho stores.

Both the Idaho Falls Walmart and Ammon Walmart stores will now be open from 6:00 am until midnight, seven days a week. This change also occurred at the Chubbuck store in 2017.

Why the change? Some say it's a way to optimize store labor, while other sources are saying Walmart is attempting to (and succeeding at) curbing theft in their stores. The good news is, Walmart says most overnight employees will stay on staff for stocking and prepping services.

Will Walmart stores in the Treasure Valley follow suit with the shorter hours? Many stores around here already have limited hours:

  • Boise (Overland) - 5:00 am - 1:00 am
  • Boise (Cole) - 6:00 am - 12:00 am
  • Boise (State) - 6:00 am - 1:00 am
  • Meridian (Fairview) - 5:00am - 1:00am
  • Meridian (West Overland) - 6:00 am - 12:00 am
  • Meridian (N. Ten Mile) - 6:00 am - 12:00 am
  • Additional store hours can be found here

No word yet on if Walmart plans to alter store hours at any of its Treasure Valley locations.
