$120,000 Raised by Boise State Athletics for Make-A-Wish

Every year, Make-A-Wish Idaho and the Boise State Athletic Department host an annual Serving Up Wishes fundraiser. This is Make-A-Wish Idaho's biggest fundraiser of the year. Normally there is a big event and show at Boise State's Albertsons Stadium, but not this year. This year it was a virtual event like so many others in 2020. The good news is it didn't stop the contributors and donations from coming in.

The virtual event included videos and messages from the athletic heads, coaches, teammates and children who have been helped by Make-A-Wish Idaho. The kids, who are fighting critical illnesses talked about how much the wishes have helped them and impacted their journey in a positive way. Make-A-Wish Idaho typically has about 100 kids on their waiting list to have wishes granted. Just going through the website, it was heartwarming to see children's wishes come true. A 3 year old boy got to be a garbage truck driver for a day, a sweet 7 year old little girl got the puppy she's always wanted and so many more.

From virtual auctions to a unique and creative incentives from Boise State Athletics. Donors were encouraged to purchase Wish Bucks. The auction items were pretty special this year, everything from a bike ride with gold medalist Kristin Armstrong to a Kentucky Adventure to dinner with basketball coach Leon Rice and his wife to dinner for eight with football coach Bryan Harsin and his wife.
