Being a new parent can be tough, right? Sure, there's information everywhere but remembering the "right way" to do things all the time can be difficult. Sometimes, you just wing it and hope for the best.

You know, like grabbing a quick snack or teether out of the pantry to soothe your crying child?

A Very Popular Baby Teether Is Being Recalled

If you've ever had to experience the teething phase with your child, you know it can be a struggle. It's so challenging for some that there's a valid need for an entire market for baby teething products.

Sure, you could give your kid a chewing toy from the pet aisle at Fred Meyer (kidding... or are we?), but you have to do it the "right way" right? There are chewy toys with water inside, but perhaps that isn't enough flavor for your baby.

That's why someone invented "edible teethers" and while it sounds like a great idea, Gerber recently announced a recall on their "Soothe 'n' Chew" teether products.

"The recall was initiated after receiving consumer complaints of choking incidents," the statement from the FDA said.

"To date, one emergency room visit has been reported to the firm."

It's a scary thought that there has already been an emergency room visit but luckily, we know which product it is so we can toss them out. According to the FDA, the recalled products are:

  • GERBER® SOOTHE N CHEW® TEETHING STICKS – STRAWBERRY APPLE, Net Wt. 3.2 Oz (90g), with UPC 0 15000 04618 7, all lot codes
  • GERBER® SOOTHE N CHEW® TEETHING STICKS – BANANA, Net Wt. 3.2 Oz (90g), with UPC 0 15000 04608 8, all lot codes
  • GERBER® SOOTHE N CHEW® TEETHING STICKS – BANANA, Net Wt. 1.59 Oz (45g), with UPC 0 15000 01015 7, all lot codes
