Depending on which side of the fence you're on, Boise gaining national recognition is either a good thing or one of the worst things that can happen. On the one hand, Boise receiving recognition can make locals proud to live here.

On the other hand, people in Boise might not necessarily want Boise to get that kind of attention... enough people know about Boise already, right?

Boise Is One Of The Best State Capitals To Live In For 2025

Boise recently gained some national recognition by being one the best state capitals to live in thanks to a study from WalletHub.

According to their study, the factors that make up their ranking included "affordability, economic well-being, quality of life, education and health care."

Now, we know what you might be thinking: "Affordability?! Boise?!"

And you're not wrong.

Despite Boise's high overall ranking, the affordability rank for the City of Trees was 25, the highest in the top five rankings.

So, How Did Boise Rank So High Overall?

While its "Affordability Rank" wasn't great, Boise did rank well in other areas including "Economic Well-Being" (2nd), "Quality of Education & Health" (9th), and "Quality of Life" (4th).

While those were the primary categories, they had others including "Crime Rate" where Boise came in second.

The combination of these rankings put Boise in 4th place behind only Raleigh, NC (3rd), Madison, WI (2nd), and Austin, TX (1st)!

We know this ranking might influence people to move here and that might make locals upset... but, it's also important to remember this can be something to be proud of too!
