Boise’s Famous Historic Lion House for Sale for $2.7M, See Photos
Boise's North End is beautiful and full of vibrant history, popular neighborhood eateries, small local shops and famous houses. I just drove by the historic 'Lion House' on North Harrison Boulevard on Saturday. It is hard to miss regardless of which way you are driving there is something about it that make your eyes look over. Aside from the grandeur of the home and property I also noticed a for sale sign. According to realtor.com, the house is selling for $2.7 million.
A family who left San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake built the home in 1911 and they built it to last. Today the home is on the National Register of Historic Places. The home was constructed with 12 solid inches of concrete from top to bottom. The thick walls make a great sound barrier from outside, makes the home super stable, even in an earthquake, and keeps the internal temperatures moderate. The two lion statues that gave it the 'Lion House' nickname were added in the 1980s.
The owners who are selling the home have been there since 2014. They converted the former garage into a casita and added a new three-car garage. Another former owner was Idaho’s governor, who lived here from 1919 to 1923.

Inside you will find five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms with nearly 8,400 square feet of historic original features, like gorgeous woodwork, quarter-sawn oak floors, stacked crown molding, a dramatic staircase, fireplaces, and built-ins. While keeping its historic integrity many things, as you would expect, have been updated with new heating, plumbing, air conditioning and electricity.
If you love the historic area, and can afford the steep prices, there are also two other homes on the street also for sale.
