California Chicken Chain Eyes Idaho For The First Time
El Pollo Loco Eyes Its First Idaho Location
Five months ago, I stumbled upon a Reddit thread where someone was asking for the "closest thing to El Pollo Loco in the great Boise area?" After seeing the chatter online today, it looks like this person will be very excited about the noise. El Pollo Loco, the California-based chicken chain, has its sights set on Idaho.

Where Is El Pollo Loco Going In Idaho?
According to BoiseDev, the initial documents were filed with the City of Meridian and suggest a location on the corner of Chinden Blvd. and Ten Mile Rd. This would be El Pollo Loco's first location in Idaho, bringing its signature "L.A. Mex" menu to the Treasure Valley.
Have You Heard About El Pollo Loco?
I'm sure a lot of people in the Treasure Valley are very familiar with El Pollo Loco since a lot are from California, but if you haven't, they are famous for their fresh, fire-grilled chicken, which is never frozen. They have everything from chicken bowls and burritos (my favorite) to family-style meals and tacos.
The company announced last year that the Meridian location could feature a new and improved restaurant format. Updated colors and a brighter and more welcoming interior are some of the changes. As of now, they show that the site will house a 2,000-square-foot El Pollo Loco and an additional 1,250-square-foot space for a retailer or restaurant.
It's in the early stages, but the excitement is definitely there for El Pollo Loco fans and those who are missing that flame-grilled chicken from California.
