WARNING: A Crime Wave Is Taking Over Meridian
Desperate times call for desperate measures, right? And for many of us, that means getting off our butts to put the necessary work in to get what we need out of desperation... the legal way of course.
But, some are willing to break the law to get what they want... and police say that's happening in a specific area of the Treasure Valley.
Lock your doors, shut your windows!
Police recently shared a press release warning residents about a string of burglaries plaguing the area. According to the release, "incidents involved suspects forcibly entering homes through near windows and doors, targeting small, easily transportable valuables within the residences."
It sounds like criminals are getting bold and brave which is dangerous for everyone involved. It's an important reminder to lock your doors, ensure your garage door is closing, and eliminate any easy entry point for would-be burglars.
Where is this wave of crime happening? According to police:
During the week of September 9, 2024, the Meridian Police Department responded to multiple reports of residential burglaries, primarily occurring south of the I-84 corridor.
While these don't necessarily sound like full-blown, violent home invasions, anything can go wrong if a burglar enters "the wrong home" or if they try to attack the homeowner.
Meridian police are warning residents to stay vigilant, keep their eyes open and to report any suspicious activity to their Property Crimes unit at propertycrimes@meridiancity.org. You can also share any tips you have with Crime Stoppers at 208-343-2677.
We'll keep you posted on the updates as Meridian police provide them. Stay safe and aware!
