They've been around for nearly 60 years, but the popular women's clothing store Dress Barn is closing all 650 of their doors, including their store right here in Boise.

Right now you'll find Dress Barn right off of Milwaukee Street near the Boise Town Square Mall, but that won't last long as the company's chief financial officer, Steven Taylor says

Dress Barn has not been performing at an acceptable level of profitability in today's retail environment.

This also means that about 6,800 people across the country will be out of work.

An article on KTVB does not state when the store will close, but I assume you can expect the deep discounts that usually come along with a retail store closing up shop and liquidating inventory.

I'm saddened by the ever fading brick and mortar retail market as we continue to shop online and shy away from taking the time to go into a store with friends or family. I just went to The Village on Sunday and call me "old school" but I want to try on a pair of pants before I make the decision to purchase. You just can't get that online. I also like the act of shopping. The memories it creates and the instant gratification you get from walking into a store and walking out with a bag of something new!

In the end, it doesn't really matter if I like traditional shopping or not, Dress Barn is another store biting the dust!
