This Restaurant in Meridian Just Named Most Legendary in Idaho

The Love Food website recently put together a list of what they ranked as the most legendary restaurants in every US state. Idaho is loaded with incredible eateries. With farming and agriculture thriving in the gem state it also means fresher local eating options in many restaurants. While some have been better than others I have yet to have a bad dining experience in Idaho. With so many incredible options how do you know where to go?

Lists like this and local reviews help me decide where to go when cooking at home just isn't happening. I have yet to try Epi's Basque Restaurant but after reading this, it is certainly worth a visit. First of all did you know that Boise is home to the only Basque museum in America?

There is a large hub of Basque culture here and Epi's celebrates it in many delicious ways. The Basque restaurant has been open for over 20 years and continues to fill up with hungry guests. According to their website, they serve fresh, traditional Basque cuisinea. Epi's serves crispy ham croquetas, mushrooms sautéed in butter, garlic and sherry, and an incredibly tender, fall-off-the-bone lamb shank as a regular special.

Here is the Epi story and history from their homepage, "Christi Ansotegui and Gina Ansotegui Urquidi opened Epi's on January 26, 1999 in honor of their grandmother, Epi Inchausti, Epi was born in Bizkaia, Spain in 1903. She married David Inchausti in 1925, then traveled to America in 1929. David and Epi operated the Gem Bar and boarding house in Hailey, Idaho. Their children are Rosario, Dorothy, Maria Louisa, Josephine, Juanita, David and Julia, Epi became well known for her delicious meals, She died in 1983 at the age of 80. Erik McFarland, great grandson, long time employee and cook took over ownership August 1, 2019 from founders Christi and Gina. The example she set continues to touch people through the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren."
