If you live in Idaho and don't like fishing, do you even belong in Idaho?

It's a question that thousands of Idahoans ponder every day, and thankfully, that question will be answered this week.

Fishing Is Good For The Soul... Science Says So

Okay, so maybe there aren't "thousands of Idahoans" asking this question every day, but still, fishing is as important as ever. As a matter of fact, I went ahead and did some research to see if there are any benefits to fishing, and to my delight, there are.

According to several studies, fishing is great for combating stress and anxiety, improving concentration and patience, increasing self-esteem and resilience, and of course, creating strong bonds with those you're spending time with.

It's science, people!

Free Fishing In Idaho This Weekend!

One of the best 3-day stretches in Idaho is coming up with "Free Fishing Day" for three straight days starting Thursday, June 12th, through Saturday, June 14th. If you're wondering, "Free Fishing" means you don't have to have a fishing license to fish in Idaho, which is always a plus.

"If you have never been fishing, Free Fishing Day is also a great day to learn," Idaho Fish & Game said in a statement.

"Fish and Game personnel and volunteers set up several free events at local fishing waters throughout the state to help first-timers discover the joys of fishing."

Idaho Fish & Game says if you're going to be participating in those free events around the Treasure Valley, keep in mind that there will be a "limited number of loaner rods and reels available to practice with."

Basically, it's probably best to bring your own gear if you plan on going to one of those events.
