There is a big problem in Nampa of people not being able to get to the grocery store and this free ride will help solve the problem in a big way!

A lot of people in Nampa are in what is called a "food desert." Many residents don't have a car or even when they don't have a second car they can use while there spouse is working it can become a problem because there aren't any stores within walking distance.

St. Luke's and St. Alphonsus are partnering to tackle the issue by offering a shuttle starting February 3rd from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday between Winco and Garrity Boulevard for free.

According to KTVB 10-12% of Nampa residents don't have a vehicle so this will be a huge help.

They are going to run the program on a trial basis for three month and then they will look at any changes that need to be made and they may expand the service to more than one day a week at that point.

St. Luke's and Saint Alphonsus are picking up the costs, including paying the shuttle drivers wages, vehicle maintenance, and food.

What a fantastic program! If you know of anyone who could benefit from this, please share!
