Idaho Humane Society in Need of Foster Parents

Sometimes before pets can be adopted out from the Idaho Humane Society they need a little bit of extra love and care first. Foster parents are a crucial part in the operations of adopting out cats and dogs and the Idaho Humane Society is currently in need of them!

The shelter will provide food, blankets, towels, crates and medical care for the animals; the only expense to the foster family is time and love. Most animals in need of foster care come from a difficult past. Your job is to help heal those phycological wounds which can be done with time and affection. 

If you are interested in becoming an IHS foster parent and you reside in Ada County or Canyon County, the first step would be to fill out the Foster Application. Once completed a Volunteer Manager from IHS will reach out to you within 24 hours and provide information on the next steps to becoming a foster parent.

IHS says that foster homes for cats or kittens are always in demand. For both cats and dogs you must provide a living space that is indoors. Cats should be separated from your own animals until they are more secure with their surroundings. All of your personally owned pets must be spayed or neutered and up-to-date on their shots. Fosters for dogs and puppies must also be at least 21 years of age.

Although lots of time and commitment is required, being a foster parent can be an incredibly rewarding experience. After all, you're essentially emotionally rehabilitating animals and preparing them for their forever homes.
