Meridian Police Warn TikTok Challenge Can Get Your Kids Shot
Social media can be beneficial for some people, but there are some instances where it can put you in a bad spot. For example, you see what you believe to be a "life hack" on social media and try it but end up ruining your carpet permanently.
Or your kid sees a social media challenge, and it gets them in serious trouble... or even shot.
A Dangerous TikTok Trend Is Happening In Meridian
Some might think, "There's no way my teenager would get shot over a TikTok challenge!"
The truth is, however, this trend or "challenge" can put your child in serious danger, especially in Idaho.
"The Meridian Police Department has recently responded to multiple calls involving the dangerous 'TikTok Door Kick Challenge,'" Meridian police said in a social media post.
"Over the past week alone, officers have been called to several neighborhoods where juveniles have been forcefully kicking in residential doors, damaging property, and terrifying families—all for social media attention."
Now, we don't know about you, but if we heard someone forcefully kicking our door, we'd assume they're trying to break in. And if we think they're trying to break in, we're grabbing our firearms... no hesitation.
It's safe to say there are many Idahoans who would react the same way, and if your kid is attempting this challenge, it puts them at literal risk of being shot.
"This is not a prank. It's a crime."
Police are reminding parents to talk to their teens about the dangers of participating in challenges such as these.
" Parents — please take a moment to talk to your teens," Meridian police said. "These actions can result in criminal charges, and even more concerning, they could be injured by a homeowner who believes a break-in is occurring."
"This is not a prank. It's a crime."
