My Aunt’s Secret Roll Recipe
My aunt Penny makes the best rolls ever! They are easy, and I'm sharing her secret recipe!
Aunt Penny's Foolproof 12 Hour Butterhorn Rolls
- 1/4 C. Warm Water
- 1 Tbs. Dry Active Yeast
- 1/2 C. Butter
- 1/2 C. Sugar
- 3/4 tsp. Salt
- 3/4 C. Scalded Milk, cooled
- 3 Eggs Beaten
- 3 1/2 C. Flour
Dissolve yeast in the water. Scald the milk and then add the butter, sugar, & salt. Add the eggs, the yeast mixture, and then the flour. (The dough will be sticky.) Cover the dough and allow it to rise for 5-6 hours or overnight. Dump onto floured counter top. Knead a few times, divide the dough in half. Roll into a 16" circle. Melt butter and spread on top. Cut each circle into 16 wedges. Roll from wide end to narrow end so they make the shape of a horn. Let rolls raise for 2 hours. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 mins.
We have these every Thanksgiving and they are awesome!
