Nampa Family’s Car Set on Fire in Driveway While Home
Was this a random act or specifically targeted? That is something a lot of people are wondering right now. Imagine being at home with your 5 small children when you notice flames out the window and realize your car, parked not more than a couple of feet from your home is fully engulfed in flames. That is what happened to this Nampa family who is now looking for answers.
Luckily the family's home is equipped with security cameras and they are hoping the footage will help catch the arsonist. The footage, available to see on KTVB, shows a man with a hood pouring gasoline over the car and then a line of it down to the end of the driveway where he then lit it on fire and walked away down the street while the flames blazed. A very scary situation for the homeowners, who have no idea who the person is, or could be.
Alejandro Venegas and his wife are the homeowners and live their with their five children. Alejandro had just left the house no more than an hour before the fire was set. As he pulled into work at 5:50 Monday morning his wife called screaming saying their car was on fire. He came right back home and by the time he got there firefighters had put out the flames. Just in time too because the car was parked so close to the house that the flames started to catch the house on fire as well. Luckily everyone is ok and everyone in the home was able to get out safely.
No one in the family has any reason to believe that someone would be out to get them or hurt their family so the investigation is just going off of the security footage that is available and also asking for the publics help to find the man who did this. As of now investigators think this may have been a random act of crime. Nampa Police Department and Nampa Fire Department are investigating and searching for whoever did this. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nampa Police dispatch at (208) 465-2257.
