Nampa is looking to join Boise and West Ada School Districts in offering full-time kindergarten classes next year.

Kindergarten is not mandatory in the state of Idaho.  Most parents choose to send their kids and there's high interest in full day kindergarten classes.  The problem... getting the state to fund full-time kindergarten.

Some districts have gone to all day every other day which doesn't change the funding much, but Nampa is looking to do all day, every day.  Parents interested are going to have to pay!  It's about $2,200 for the year.  Or $240 a month.

A minimum of 20 students must be enrolled in full-time kindergarten to offer the service.  Nothing is set yet but the interest is high and there could be multiple schools in Nampa with full-time kindergarten as early as next year.  The three that are looking very good right now are Owyhee, Lake Ridge, and Reagan.
