The 100 deadliest days just kicked off, and it's one of the most dangerous times to be on the roads of Idaho. With so much focus on the deadly summer driving season, it can be easy to overlook the other "not-so-fun" things happening this time of year... you know, like crime!

Is There More Crime Around Idaho During Summer?

Summertime is supposed to be all about having fun, creating timeless memories, and enjoying the sun. On the other hand, some bad people see this as an opportunity to take advantage of those people enjoying the summer.

If you think about it, it actually makes sense since more people are traveling and might even have more time on their hands with school/college being out. In 2024, the Boise police department saw an uptick in incidents reported beginning in the month of May, with over 800 incidents reported monthly through October.

Basically, whatever's in the water this time of year... it ain't good!

According to a post from the Ada County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to a "forced vehicle burglary at Barber Park around 2:30 PM" on Sunday, June 1st.

"Deputies quickly identified the suspect vehicle as a newer model white Dodge Durango, possibly bearing Arizona license plates featuring an American Flag style design."

Here's when things get a little extra nutty: police say later that afternoon, at around 3:45 PM, an Eagle police officer spotted the Dodge Durango at Optimist Park near Hill Road and Horseshoe Bend Road.

When the officer approached the suspect, the vehicle fled, and a chase began. The suspect took officers on a chase on roads including Chinden, Glenwood, and more. The suspect reportedly reached speeds around 100 mph, and that's when officers decided to call off the chase due to safety concerns.

And It Gets Even Crazier...

Get this, police said that around 10 minutes after this chase was called off, the Idaho State Police received a report that the suspect's Dodge Durango was seen "driving recklessly westbound on I-84 near milepost 49."

Unfortunately, police couldn't track down the vehicle or the suspect and are now asking for the public's help in tracking down the suspect. Check out the photos below, and if you have any information, contact the police at 208-377-6790.
